Found everywhere from the highlands to the coast and mangrove swamps, orchids are a recurring feature breathing that little extra beauty into Papua New Guinea’s stunning landscape.
In fact, the island nation is home to between 10 and 13 per cent of the world’s orchids with around 3200 species believed to be found here.
So prolific are these delicate beauties that many are yet to be formally identified, but in the interim their abundance draws visitors from across the globe to witness one of the world’s oldest flowers in all its natural glory.
